Since no initial attempt was made to exclude less influential adverbs, the list contains all manner adverbs in our sub-corpora which conform to the key-ness criteria and reports their frequency in the corpus together with normalized figures (occurrence per hundred words) and key-ness index. From an initial, cursory analysis of the adverbs listed, a number of these can be said to function rarely, or never, as sentence adverbs (see below for the distinction in terms of syntactic role and scope).
